I’m really excited to share this blog with you about our recent family vacation. Every year my family and I take a trip somewhere in the world to a place/ destination we haven’t been before; usually to celebrate someone else’s accomplishment or just celebrate being together again.

This year my nephew Josh graduated high school and has joined the United States Army. In honor of Josh’s accomplishments-we knew exactly what to celebrate.

The family vacations require a lot of planning, saving money and trying to get as many family members who want to attend vacation to the location.

Several of my family members have branched off and have large families of their own.

We started planning the year before, usually my sister Shanae is the most organized so we leave most of the logistics to her. Each family is responsible for booking and paying for their own group.

One of my favorite things that we do as a family are custom t-shirts. For this year, we decided on wearing green t-shirts; it was such a life saver when it was time to find one another on the cruise.

The cruise we took was 5 days to ocho Rios, Jamaica. Unfortunately, my husband is deployed once again and couldn’t be there with us. Of course, my husband has been in his share of trips with the family, but we always miss and wish he was with us.

We started the family vacation in Florida. We stayed at a beautiful hotel. The children were able to swim all day, eat pizza and have a good time. The day of the embarking of our cruise ship, the family and I wore green shirts.

Not only did we celebrate my nephew Josh’s graduation, but also being together as a family.

The laughs were endless and the memories we created made another beautiful trip. I seriously love my family so much. We ended up taking a family group photo the first night of the cruise and my 3 year old was so sleepy. Check out this group picture below.

The food on the trip was also amazing, I think I gained about15 pounds. I added a few pictures of my delicious meals.

The endless 24 hour pizza had me captured with love. Some of you may laugh, but I’m so serious. My 3 year old enjoyed eating ice cream for breakfast and also for dessert for dinner.

One of my favorite parts of our trip was going to the beaches in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands; the water was absolutely beautiful and warm. No worries or cares in the world is a great place to be in. My son Jaxon really enjoyed swimming and playing in the sand.

Margaritaville in Jamaica was also really cool, it had a nice little restaurant that was on the beach with a pool and water slide.

Of course it was hard for me to capture all the great moments because we were so busy living and enjoying them. Each vacation allows our bonds to grow and relationships to blossom.

The day before our final cruise day we took my son Jaxon and niece to a very special breakfast, “The Cat in the Hat, green eggs and ham”. Definitely memorable to say the least. Not only did we have a great breakfast with The Cat in The Hat ,but also with his character friends Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Family Day: Water Park Fun

One of the biggest things I’m thankful for in my life is my family. God has blessed me beyond measure when it comes to them.

Recently we had a family day of fun since Summer is ending soon. We decided to go to Water Country USA. My husband has never been before and the last time Jaxon and I went he was 1 years old.

Jaxon our now 2 in half year old really enjoyed himself. Having a son who isn’t scared to swim and slide down slides is great and scary at the same time. This mama was having mini heart attacks from all of this adventurous fun with my tiny human.

I haven’t really talked about my Niece Arianna on a blog post before. Allow me to introduce my beautiful princess, Ari is 7 years old and one of the greatest little humans I know. Jaxon and Ari are favorite cousins. Despite their small age gap, they’re as close as brother and sister.

I love the bond my niece and son share. During the whole water park trip the two of them spent 99 percent of the time together. Riding slides and floating in a two person float under the water fall. Wherever Ari was, Jaxon wasn’t too far behind.

Not only did we get to spend time with family, we made memories. I got to just sit down and talk to my sister who is my person. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up and busy with life. Taking time to spend with your family is so important, especially because life isn’t promised tomorrow.

My sister Shanae and I shared one of those churro’s sticks. The churro stick is a cinnamon sugary delightful Spanish dessert. Oh it was delicious. Flashbacks laughing out loud.

My boys, my heart, and my everything.
I love seeing how great of a father my husband Jason is. Out of all the titles my husband carries, being a husband and father are the best. The way my husband loves our son is the greatest love.

After readjustment of my husband being home 3 months after deployment it has been a good transition.

I really enjoyed having this fun day with my loved ones.  All I ever dreamed of when I was a little girl was for a family of my own. A family to love and adore.

The joy of having my husband and child is amazing. I’m happy that I’m close with my sister and her family. We ALWAYS do fun things together. I just wanted to share the people who keep me going, the people who make my life, and my family who give me purpose.

Protecting YOUR Marriage

Protecting your marriage

In a society where the divorce rate is so high at 50 percent, people who marry are likely to end in divorce. I’m no expert, but I definitely see a problem here. There are many factors and variables for divorce.

I’m no way judging or being hypocritical. I just feel compelled to tell you, protect YOUR marriage.

One of the most special things I have is my marriage. It’s when I took important vows before God and the man I love. I said some important things to an important person. I didn’t say vows to my mom, to my dad or my sister and brothers.

I said vows to my best friend in the entire world. I gave my word to love through it all and he said the same thing, all sealed with a kiss.
The Bible says a man who finds a wife, finds a good thing.

Marriage is a lot of hard work. You’re constantly trying to please and do well by one another. Marriage is constant forgiveness of one another.

Completely naked

Marriage is being completely naked with one another. Naked meaning bare, meaning your true self. Naked meaning being vulnerable and expecting the person you love to cherish your heart .

One of the BIGGEST problems I’ve seen, is when you let other people into your marriages. When you share problems to someone other than your spouse, you open your relationship to everyone. And no one has that right to have access to your private life.

That means every Tom,Dock, and Harry will have some opinion if you let them. Never allow your emotions to get so big that you try to embarrass or hurt your spouse. Remember not everything is for everyone, protect your marriage.
People who aren’t happy with themselves or life want to see you miserable. It’s so important that when you seek advice from anyone that you’re careful about who it’s from. Not everyone’s intentions are good. Make sure the advice you receive encourages you. If the advice you get sounds detrimental, close your ears. Always have discernment.

You’re a team

Always remember why the both of you fell inlove and remember you’re on the same team. In order to be a great team, you have to work together.

Being strong when the other is weak

Sometimes one of you may have to be the stronger person when the other is feeling weak. Never stop encouraging one another. The moments come, but you must never give up. Stand strong. Continue to grow together, not apart. When you grow together you will thrive better.

God can change the situation

Even when I wasn’t close to God as I am now, I always would pray. Prayer is one of the BEST things to have in a marriage. Praying not for only yourself but for your spouse, and for your marriage. If you really love someone, pray for them. God can change any situation around or person.
Forgiveness is one of the greatest things in marriage. Marriages require perpetual (continuous)forgiveness.

Sometimes good things happen and sometimes bad things happen. Remember everyone, every relationship goes through things, through situations but everything is to build the bond stronger.

Don’t share everything

What makes marriage special is the memories you build, and the inside jokes. Don’t tell everyone all the things you share. It’s nice to have just something to yourself. That’s another thing I learned and it makes it special.

No marriages are the same

I’ve said this before, but don’t compare your love story to someone else’s love story. You don’t know what another couple has gone through to get where they are.

No perfect relationship

I never want to sound like I have the “perfect” relationship or I’m better. Christ is my husband and I foundation. With a good foundation it’s hard to break. Many obstacles, situations, people and circumstances will try to crack the house( which is us) but because our foundation is strong, it cannot prevail. Christ is holding us up. Love, patience, forgiveness, communication, connection, effort, dedication, and commitment are the blocks of the house.
Our love for Christ and one another is the stuff in between holding us together.

Remember no matter what you’re going through protect your marriage. Marriage is beautiful. Marriage is meant to glorify God.
Marriage is valuable. Protect your love for one another.

Outgrowing People

(Image courtesy of Alex Stohen Photography)

The older I get, the more I realize that people change. I’m constantly changing and evolving(for the better).

Some people change for the better and some people stay the same. The people who change for the better have a different mind set of becoming better, they grow and mature. The people who stay the same, don’t ever change and stay stuck.

Now that I’m getting closer to 30, I finally feel like I’ve grown up.

Not because of age, but because my mindset is different.

The real change in me took place the moment my son was born. The life I use to live was no more, no longer about me. My priorities changed, my life was no longer mine. The focus shifted from me to my tiny human. A child who I love more than myself. The biggest change is when I finally stopped running from God and gave him all of me. I’m all in for Jesus Christ and I’m not turning back, not this time. Nothing you could ever say or do could convince me that my life before Jesus was better.

I never realize the more you walk in your purpose the more things change. The more you change. There is a reason why people come in and out your life. Every person is either a lesson or a blessing. Sometimes you have to learn how to become more than a conqueror. God is always preparing us to grow. The more I’m changing on the inside, the more I’m changing on the outside.

Outgrowing people means that sometimes you may have to stand alone. The crowds you use to hang with it are staying “stuck”. My pastor talked about how sometimes you can outgrow your own family too. Growing isn’t limited to only your friends.

I’ve learned that negative and unhappy people can drain a person. If that’s all you accompany yourself around, you’re stuck. You have to learn to speak life into yourself and situations. Life is about happiness. Taking care of yourself is important. Bettering yourself is important. Accomplishing self goals are important and most important, loving yourself. Loving yourself means walking away from anything or anyone that might hurt you. People will hurt you. Forgive them. You may never get an apology that you deserve , but don’t let unforgiveness sit on your heart. When you’re able to do this, that’s when you realize you have outgrown that old life.

Personal experience
I know from personal experience that I don’t need certain individuals in my life that are constantly hurting me. Christ teaches us to love and forgive. I can love you from a distance, but that doesn’t mean I have to have you in my life destroying my feelings. God gives us discernment and we must use it. It protects us when we need it. We don’t have to be foolish and let people hurt us. You can distance yourself and move on.

Sometimes you outgrow people, and that’s alright. Don’t ever feel ashamed with growing.

Never let someone make you feel bad because you have grown and they’re stuck. Life is about progression and moving forward. I can love and support you from a distance.

My sisters motto is, ” I’m going to let you live your life, and let me live mine”.

I love her motto so much, it’s true.

Choose growth

The people who stay “stuck” , thinks the world owes them something. But no one owes you anything. Stuck or growing, the world is still moving. The world isn’t stopping for you. Choose growth. Choose happiness.

You may lose a few friends or family along the way and it’s okay. Anyone who understands your journey will support you. Not everyone is meant to come along. Always remember the people cheering you on and the ones who are silent during your success.

If you’re reading this and you need some encouragement, just know everything will be alright. Outgrowing people doesn’t mean you don’t like or love someone anymore; it just means you are progressing and growing.

Settling and being content only blocks your growth. Life is so much more.

The truth about ME being a SAHM

(Image google imaging)

Today I wanted to break a few common myths about stay at home moms. Many times people have this idea of what a SAHM does or doesn’t do. I felt compelled to tell my side of things. I can’t speak for every sahm or stay at home parent, only myself.
What works for my family may not necessarily work for yours.

We are lazy
That is far from the truth. Many times people think that all stay at home moms sit around all day eating bon-bons watching trash television. We don’t clean and just spend money.

I know for me personally, I’m cleaning multiple times a day because I have a highly active toddler. I have to manage schedules, doctors appointments, therapy sessions, never ending laundry, our dog, pay bills, organize, teach my child, and play. The list is so long and never ending.

I use to love nap time when my son took them. Nap time was a time for me to catch up on house work, or even take a minute for myself to relax. Now days my two year old skips naps and I never get a break. I have the highest respect for moms who work and have to still come home and do all the things I do. But at least they get a break , SAHM doesn’t, it’s a constant go-go field. We are with our children 24/7 if they’re not in school. Most sahm’s I know have multiple children or children that are under the age of 5.

We let ourselves go
I can’t speak for all sahm, but for me I know I can be rocking the bum look during the week. I don’t wear makeup or do my hair all fancy during the week. But I always make sure if we are going somewhere or if it’s the weekend to put more effort into my appearance. I always want my husband to be proud to have me on his arm and by his side. Sometimes if I’m motivated, one day out the week I’ll get fancy and send my husband a cute picture of myself. Those are my favorite, makes him excited to come home.
We are broke
So many times people assume because you’re a stay at home parent you are broke. For some that might be true, but for my family that’s not true. Because I handle all our finances, I’m constantly budgeting and saving money. We live in our means and aren’t spending frivolously. My parents growing up taught me a value of a dollar and to know where our money goes.

My husband controls me

That one always makes me laugh. So many people assume that because my husband is the bread winner he controls me. I always giggle at that one. I don’t know about other folks marriages; But my husband sees me as an equal. He may be the head of our household, but he never looks down on me because I’m not working outside the home. I do so much caring for our child and maintaining the house.

*If your spouse makes you feel bad for not working then that’s a whole separate issue.

*My husband has never made me feel bad, ever.

I’m obligated to have a clean home and cook every day.
Now I will say I do try to make sure my house is at least picked up and have some sort of dinner plan going. My husband doesn’t expect me to have the house perfect every single day or dinner done by the time he’s in the door. It’s all about what he expects. Expectations versus perception. Folks perceive certain obligations because of their situations. As I stated before, what works for my family may not work for yours. My husband and I know our roles and we both perform them well. The last seven in a half years of marriage proves that.

You’re not contributing

I may not be earning an income, but that doesn’t mean I’m not contributing. One of the main things I’m doing in my home is taking care of our son, teaching, and playing with him. I do so many things behind the scenes that doesn’t always gets noticed or applauds. Working is great but it’s not everything. Money is nice but it’s not everything. Time is so important, it’s something you never get back. I’m happy with my choice and you should be too. I love the life I have with no regrets. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Fun fact: Did you know I’m a supportive wife? I love to pray and intercede for my husband. I love to encourage him especially when life gets stressful. I’m more than just a wife. I’m THAT WIFE AND MOM!
I don’t have goals or dreams

Some people dream of being famous, being teachers or doctors. But people like myself dreamt of being a good SAHM and wife there is nothing wrong with wanting to be a great parent and spouse. As long as you’re doing the best at what you love. There is a quote that says “if you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life”. I love being a mom, a great mom. This is something no one can take from me but God.

I didn’t give up my goals. I always wanted to finish college and get my degree. Guess who is my number one supporter? Yup, my husband.

I’m attending college in the Fall( read my previous blog post.)

PLEASE DON’T make us feel guilty for choosing to stay home.

Please don’t make stay at home moms feel guilty for staying home taking care of their family. We would never make you feel guilty for working and doing what you needed for your family. We all work hard for our families, we just do it in different ways.

🎉Happy New Year 2017🎉

Woo hoo! It’s finally 2017 and this is my first blog post of the New Year. I can officially say my husband will be heading home this year from deployment. As many of you know, my husband got extended and is now coming home later than expected. Instead of coming home soon,he will be home hopefully end of spring, early summer. Subject to change because that’s the military for you. I’m not complaining just stating the obvious.

You’re probably looking at the picture above and a little confused. I will explain in the next paragraph.
Jaxon and I were recently surprised when my husband got to take military leave( r&r) and came home for Christmas. We completely had no idea he was coming home.( if you want to see the surprise video, click this link ). Definitely a surprise of a life time. (Here’s the photo after the surprise) Please excuse my face, my makeup looks a hot mess from the tears of joy.It was the fastest two weeks of my life.We did a lot upgrades to our home, got to spend quality time together and just enjoy being a family. Even if it was for a short while.(Here’s a picture of our new fire place my husband installed [ home upgrade] and a few of Jaxon Christmas gifts)
(Christmas Eve)

I can’t believe it’s 2017. So many goals and plans for this year.

Did I mention my husband comes home this year?! Woohoo 🙌🏾.  My family is so excited and can’t wait until we can reunite.

My family has been extremely blessed. I know that as long as we keep God first, stay humble, pray and count our blessings- life will be alright.  2016 was a interesting and challenging year, but I learned so much. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

I have learned you must speak life and speak what you want in your own life. I’m welcoming 2017 with open arms, positive vibes, love and faith in God.

A lot more content coming on the blog.

I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you. It means so much to me that you come to my website and read the things I blog about. I have received so much positive feed back, that I plan to do more post. Many people have requested more food recipes. And I have a lot of fun, easy, great tasting recipes for you all.

Here’s to the best year yet! Happy New Year and don’t forget to subscribe for all my latest updates.
